DEAD CITY SF

Sixty-three days after the sirens stopped, a voice on the shortwave says there is a safe zone across the bridge — and a dead San Francisco between you and it.

You don't know what happened — the internet died first, then the power, then the water — and the house at 25th and Fair Oaks won't stand much longer. Last night a shortwave voice repeated the same three words: safe zone, Marin, cross the bridge. You begin in Noe Valley. The Golden Gate is two miles north, through a city that is gone.
